I was just holding Annie Rose and she was being very sweet gazing up into my face with her paws holding onto my face gently purring. Then she leaned forward like she was about to headbutt me. SHE BIT MY NOSE!
Then she proceeded to attack my face yowling like I was trying to kill her or something. And I dropped her onto the ground.

Actually, when you were returning the gaze, she may have interpreted that to mean that you were a predator, and she was defending herself. Cats often don't like eye-to-eye contact
Sounds like she was definitely giving you a signal
But did she have to be soo mean about it?
How is your poor nose, by the way???

I never heard that before. Lily and Kitten always look into my face all the time. Annie Rose does too sometimesand this is the first time she attacked me while doing that. My nose is ok I think she broke skin inside of my nose.
