Tiger, a formerly stray cat has been with us for almost 2 weeks and has made good progress. She now uses the litterbox religiously. yay! The only problem is she likes to lie in it. It's gross! But I don't think there's anything I can do about it since she needs to able to access her litterbox.

She and Miko and getting along better. Eating together and have made physical contact without Miko hissing or growling.

Tiger is still a little skittish around us when we walk around the apt. But if I pick her up and put her on my lap she'll stay there relaxed for a few minutes. But she never initiates physical contact with us. Is there anything I can do to help her trust us and be more affectionate?

My senior Joji in her entire 10+ years rarely initiates contact. But she certainly trusts me. Being skittish is part of getting used to a new place. Joji started that way but now she comes when I call and viceversa
However, she is no lap cat and she leaves when she has had enough (too short for me) but I love her the way she is.
Some cats are just not as affectionate as we wish them to be.
