Hi Everyone.
I am not at all happy about this. In fact I'm very angry.
An aquaintance I met through my best friend, I'll call "Lucy" adopted a female cat I'll call "Skye".

Skye is approximately 7-8 months old and was going on and off heat for quite a while. Lucy was not interested in breeding and was not all that interested in getting Skye spayed. There was always the comment of not having enough money, even though money was happily spent elsewhere.

And as expected Skye went AWOL for ten days and came back pregnant. Lucy didn't bother to take Skye to a vet to get her looked at. And when I visited soon after Skye came back I was convinced Skye was pregnant though Lucy didn't want to acknowledge this at all.

Lucy took Skye to get spayed and it was discovered that she was carrying three kittens. However the procedure was carried out. I'm wondering what effects this would have on Skye.

Just from working at a vets office and working with a rescue, there's not much maternal instinct when this happens. Even when the mother has kittens and they are taken just days after being born, mom usually goes about her normal routine. If she's in a loving home, I dont see any behavioral effects.

Thanks.
I feel relieved, though I am surprised that spaying is done even when the cat is pregnant.

Not all vets will spay a pregnant cat, and it also depends on how developed the fetus's are.
