I love Dominic - hee haw, hee haw! Unfortunately it only gets played once by our local station here in NH. When I lived outside of Boston, I would hear it all the time!

we actually listened to the hippo song at work today

I love that song. It's so cute. It's one of my mom's favorites. She loves it, too. I also love the hippo song. Too cute! They always play them around Christmas on my favorite music station.

Yes I grew up with this song, along with all of Lou Monte's songs!!

I love me some Dominic the Donkey & I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas! One of my local radio stations plays these two songs CONSTANTLY, and sad to say, I NEVER get tired of them! (yes, I'm lame. haha)

'Ee aw, 'Ee aw!

I remember reading somewhere that the "Hippo" song, recorded in the 1950s, was made because a town was trying to raise money to purchase a hippo for their local zoo. So as cheesy and annoying as it can be, at least it was done for a good cause!
