This is so sad though, the woman has not learned a lesson from all this.

I really would rather not have even read that title. Maybe I"m being oversensitive.. but I am going to have that image stuck in my head for a day or two now, and I'll probably cry about it. Maybe it would be cool if people could just post a title that says "horrific animal abuse" and let people choose whether they want to learn more by clicking the thread? Just an idea...

Most people would agree with that, except our Home Secretary, who has asked judges to be careful who they jail. The jails are all full up and there is no room for more prisoners. A judge in UK recently freed a paedophile for that same reason.
The maddest thing about all this is that the same week, two journalists who tapped the phones of the royal family, got four & six months in prison!
So, come to the UK if you are a criminal, just make sure your crime doesn't affect anyone rich & famous, or a politician, and you will most likely avoid prison altogether.

Getting back to the cat (poor thing) I'd like to think that some community justice might be meted out to this horrible person. I'd be tempted, if I knew where she lived.

It is very discouraging to hear an RSPCA inspector say that this is the worst case of animal cruelty he has ever seen and then to say that a meaningless sentence sends a strong message to animal abusers.... Yeah, the message is that it is ok to commit any and all violent crimes as long as the victim is "just an animal".

What happens when she has her next alleged bout of depression and decides to vent her hatred on someone's child?

That really surprises me. Britain usually leads the way in animal protection, and the rest of Europe follows suit. I guess it was a civil case because pets are regarded as "property".

I'm lost here. I didn't find anything in the article that indicated the man was abusive. If you ask me, the woman was abusive here. Abuse doesn't soley rest on the shoulders of men although I admit that is the norm.

I've known abusive women and this women fits that bill.

Putting her in a washing machine is too good for her. She needs worse punishment than that!

What a very sick sick world this is becoming.

I suffer/suffered from severe depression, mainly because of an abusive father and (at the time) an uncooperative husband. Whenever my father physically or emotionally abused me, I NEVER thought about taking it out on the animals, and I knew his pit bull was his prized possesion. He loved her like no one else, and even when I hated him most, I took comfort in laying my head on her, and crying everything out.

Same with my kitties. Whenever I wake up feeling particularly 'down' you will see me searching for them all over the house, just so I can get a good cuddle session in, it always makes me feel better.

So I really cant understand what the mentality of this woman is. Why not seek comfort from your furry companion? Why hurt him for something that is not his fault and that he doesnt understand? What kills me is the terrifying last moments this cat had to have. How terrified does a kitty have to be to suffer a heart attack?

RIP sweet Paws
