We took Scratch to the vet this afternoon. It turns out she did eat some tinsel because her intestines are all funky and there was some in her poop. The good news is that she's not dehydrated, is eating, not running a fever, and is alert. The vet said it would be good if she went into emergency surgery ASAP to remove all the tinsel we can. They will call us sometime tonight to tell us how it went. Vibes for my baby girl, please.

ETA: The vet said she will be giving us a deal because we just had surgery on Scratch for her pyometra. I love our vets, they are so nice.

The vet just called and they didn't have to cut into her intestines!
It's in her lower bowel so she will just poop it out. The incision is larger than the one for her spay/pyometra so it's back to the cone.
Thanks for the vibes, everyone!

well i'm glad that she made it through ok. having tinsel around is so pretty, yet dangerous and you always hope they'll just leave it alone. . . .

glad it worked out.

Scratch..you just couldn't resist the tinsel.

I am one of the members who no longer decorates...
nothing except a kitty paw stocking high on the wall filled with new toys.
To me it is just not worth the risk.
In fact I am amazed that there are not more casulties...
how can a kitty resist all the bright shiny goodies to munch on.

It sounds like he will recover to get into mischief another day.

Are you going to take your decorations down forever now?

Let us know how your sweetie is recovering.

Pictures please of Scratch wearing his Christmas e-collar.
