When I had to trap my ferals, I used hot dogs and cheese. Make sure that you use a paper plate, nothing that will hurt them. How big is your trap? If it is too small, they won't go in it.

Exactly what were you planning to do once these cats are trapped?? If you are planning to give them to the AC&C, be aware that they will most likely be euthanized.

Why do you need them gone?? Why couldn't you work on getting the mom and her kittens fixed and provide them with an outdoor shelter? The problem with trap and remove is that oftentimes, unless you remove all the sources of food, other unfixed cats move in to take their place.

not only have they made whole in sheds there using her yard as a bathroom
& they will prob get hit by a car or they will starve 6 cats is to much to be running around this way they might get a home that they deserve not live outside and probally freeze to death

im not here to argue cats dont belong outside they belong in a warm bed

& we are trying to get them all fixed ac&c are the only ones willing to help

Actually...you and I will agree to disagree...because I work with feral cats and I know that TNR works. That is Trap, Neuter, RETURN. I would highly recommend that you read about it:

http://www.alleycat.org/visitor.html

Not all cats are housecats...not all cats want to be confined into a home. Some cats actually live a very long and happy life outdoors.

Actually, most individuals I know who perform TNR only keep the cats for a few days and then release. There are some very nice shelters that can be easily built:

http://www.all-creatures.org/ak/feral-shelter.html

http://www.neighborhoodcats.org/info/wintershelter.htm

You just have to make sure that the vet uses dissolving stitches. Right now, most AC&C's aren't equipped to handle feral cats or even skittish strays. If the cats aren't friendly, they are typically put down within days. Are the kittens in any way friendly or do they run away??

Did you try any other TNR group?? I know that Neighborhood cats wants you to take a seminar..but did you explain the urgency of the situation or try any other groups in New York?
