Well, looks like I will be receiving maggie in the near future (maybe tomorrow). Spaying will not be done till the new year, because of the holiday season. Person was not going to bring her over till about the time to spay, but I suggested the sooner the better, so we can start climatizing maggie to my place, and reduce the trauma.

She is part siamese aparrently, with no other known health issues. Pics will follow when I can. She has been eating whiskas in the past, and might be keeping her on that jsut ot help ease the transition. Are there any other things I should know about a Siamese cat, or a part???? I have read the article on siamese cats too.

There's no place like home
Siamese's like to talk alot, but I had a Siamese mix that rarely talked at all.

As far as remnants of pathogens in your home: unless you know what took your Suzie, it's hard to say. Most cat diseases aren't very hardy and can't live without a host for very long. If you still have bedding and such, you might want to make sure it is all washed before you bring Maggie in.

Love the name! Post pics soon!!

Morning - well it is here
just catching up ! Looks like Maggies gonna be your new furry
thats really great
I am so pleased for you...how ya feeling then..........oh its a fantastic feeling to know your house is gonna have a kit again, once you have had animals about, its hard not to have any again
Whiskers is generally not thought of as a great food, but you are right to keep her on that while she is settling in with you, that will give you time to think about what else you might want to give her. Well do keep us all updated..........we cant wait to meet Precious Little Maggie

well, as for the tree, that is something that can be replaced if necessary, I am more worried about the gifts under it than anything, might need to get a few morerolls of wrapping paper just in case, lol. Waiting now for maggie to arrive. I know that whiskas is not the best food on the market, but giving her fancy feast should not be a problem though, that was given to her as a treat i have found out, so that might help the transition. I have also found out that she is not de clawed on any paws. So scratching posts will be required in the near future i suppose.
I do look after a dog once in a while, and will have to monitor her reaction to that. I can see a slow intro period being in the cards between them, especially with maggie being terrorized by other pets, will prolly take a bit longer before she trusts. But I guess that would be natural. here's hoping all goes well, which I am sure they will.

Well, maggie has just arrived at my place, and is already running about surveying her new home. And potentially looking for any other animals. Hope to get pics soon for all to see. She is predominately grey, with white patches. So the aclaimation process begins for her.

I'm not sure if I'm reading this correctly so if I'm wrong, forgive me. Fancy Feast is not a very good quality food so I would be inclined to use a higher end food to use in the transition.

If she is running around doing the surveying it sounds like she is pretty much at home already. Excellent! Congratulations.

I do not know, trying to figure out a good quality of food to buy. She is currently eating a combo of whiskas nad Iams, with a bit of fancy feast as well. I am trying to figure out what is good, but not to sure. I was given some food that hse is accustomed too, so will use that for now, and go from there.

I have only had her about an hour, but she is already hopping up into my lap, letting me hold her for short periods of time like afew seconds, and is investigating the apartment thoroughly, and brushing against me alot now. She has already found her litter box, and hoping she finds the food I have out soon. Really need to find a scratching post or 2, and get some toys. She has already gone out into the hallway with me, jumped from my arms, and ran to the door, so she knows where her new home is, lol.

I just got to this thread. Congratulations to you and Maggie!
It's wonderful that you were able to take her and give her a loving home.

As to good quality canned food- my guys like Merricks and Natural Balance. I don't know what is available where you live. Check out the local pet stores, I guess.

thank you all. ihave just been playing with little maggie, and she seems moreplayful than suzie was. I can see she will bring me a lot of joy to my life. I have found that when I do get the chance to pick her up, she kind of whimpers a few times before a hiss comes along. I suppose this could be from the tormenting of the other cats she had experienced recently, and the treatment from her previous owner as well. I guess it is a matter of trust that I need to build, and show her that I will not do anything to hurt her and only had her best interests at heart. I guess I have my work cut out with this cat as well for now. A pic is being uploaded that I just got of her.

It seems as though the two of you are made for each other. Sounds like she is an absolute sweetheart. I wouldn't push her too much with picking her up right now - let her come to you. Get down on the floor with her and talk to her, etc. so she knows she can trust you.

As for food the above list is excellent. We feed Merrick's but I find it more expensive here in Canada than it seems to be in the US. But it's one of the very few our cats like so that's what they get.

Hope you and Maggie have a wonderful holiday season.
