Should Ms USA have been given a second chance?

What do you think?

IMO I think that she should have been replaced because she violated the terms of her contract.
Nope, if you can't behave yourself for a year than you don't deserve, not just the title, but all the door openings that the title can give.

That's true. I think that she gets a lot of money for college and a free apartment in New York.

I heard on the Today show that she tested positive for cocaine in her bloodstream.

The "firing" was deserved, IMO.

Have they replaced her? Anyways if they havnt I think they should. She's supposed to be a role model for young girls out there and her doing what shes done isnt.

So you are saying that just because you don't party means that no one does?? Trust me when I say the majority of 20 year olds spend their weekends at a bar or at a house party with friends. And guess what.... IT'S NORMAL!!!! I say let her have her fun now, while she's young, rather then in 30 years when she's expected to buckle down and work.

Nope thats not what Im saying. What Im saying is there is no reason for anyone young or old to be out doing drugs! Its illegal! Been there done that and theres a reason why its2 02i illegal! Sorry Nazumi jumped on the keyboard.

whether or not "every" 20 year old is doing it, she is drinking under-age and that is ILLEGAL, add that to her being in the public eye because she won a competition she chose to enter, and she knew the responsibilities that came with the title. if every 20 year old is doing this, that why hasn't there been a problem with previous Miss USA's? whatever her name is, is very immature, breaking the law and should be stripped of her crown.

MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) has dropped their affiliation with her, which I totally support. I think the underage drinking and the drug use are worthy of stripping her of her crown; however, I do have a problem with the press reporting on how she's also supposedly very promiscuous. Yes, she's a role model, but I happen to believe her sex life is her own business, so long as she and her partners are over the age of consent. (Of course, part of me is thinking "Well, if she were a man, nobody would care how many people she'd slept with." A man would be a player or a chick magnet or a ladies' man. A woman is just a whore. That always pisses me off.)

YES. EXACTLY. She had free will - she chose the pageant. She can go back to being scuzzy and stupid and immature or whatever she wants but she violated the terms of the pageant she chose to enter!

i agree with just about everyone.
She was representing a very important title and a contract. which is the main thing here...she went against it...end of the story.
what makes it ok for her to skip out on important rules yet get all the benefits of those before her kept to the rules.
not fair

Heather, I think she should have been forced to step down as well. When she signed that contract, she KNEW what was required of her. I don't care how small of a town she came from (as Donald said at the press conference), in the end, she made the choices herself.....no one forced her to do them I'm sure.

That's the funny thing about this. Is a beauty pagent winner really who you would want as a role model for your children?!!! What are they a role model for?....being pretty and walking around in bathing suits and evening gowns?!!

The scandal with Vanessa Williams happened BEFORE she won the title....but yet, she was still forced to step down. Does THAT make sense?!!

I also heard on the news that Donald Trump fired Miss USA 2002 (or 2004) because she failed to do her job. Well, this Miss USA was reported to have failed to show up at scheduled appearances. Wouldn't that be "not doing her job"?!!

Small town?? Small town, my bleeping ^&%$^!
Since when do people even think of playing this stupid card anymore here in the U.S? Unless she's living with the Aborigones or lost in the Mayan Empire, I've seen just as many people drinking in bars in a small town and young girls doing really ditzy and stupid things on MySpace as anywhere else. As long as you have beer and an electrical socket. So I totally agree.

Most of my city friends (im from a large city)growing up partied less and not as hard as those kids I knew who live in a small town.
Thats a load of poopies! I agree with ya on that one.
its about responsibilities...and owning up when you do something stupid.

I have a feeling that this type of stuff has happened in the past with other Miss Teen USAs and even Miss USAs. I'm not saying everyone in these pagents or who won did something, BUT I wouldn't be surprised that its more common than we think.

The unfortunate thing for the current is that SHE GOT CAUGHT.

It could be that if Trump made her give up her title, then a flood of reports of other Miss-something or others doing drugs or drinking underage would come out...then he would have to strip the title of many others.

Like all jobs though, contract or none, if you get caught with drugs on the premises in most case you are fired on the spot.

Actually, MADD dropped their affiliation with Miss TEEN USA, not Miss USA. Miss USA was seen kissing Miss TEEN USA when they were both drunk.

It's confusing, yes. And I think they both should lose their crowns. They are supposed to be role models for young girls, and just because Paris Hilton and Britney do it doesn't make it right for pagent winners.

Ahhh, thank you for the correction! I've only been sort of vaguely following this in the news because it's here on the TCS (how is that for geeky? I pay attention to a news item so I have some clue what's being discussed in IMO! ).

I disagree! I am 21- and I would NEVER disgrace myself by doing some of the things that she's done! You're giving all young adults a bad rap with a statement like that. It is simply not true and it is not accurate. Some young people do to that- that is true....yet there are many like me who work full time, go to school full time, and try to make a good life for themselves that do not do that. I highly disagree with that blanket statement that all young people do that- they do not.
My thoughts regarding the 'every other 20 year old' idea is this, if every other 20 year old jumped off a bridge, shouldn't she also?

IMO...she chose to participate in something where she is held to higher standards, then that is her choice. She chose it and she, and anyone else participating in similar events, should be held to it. You make your bed, you sleep in it. If more people even just saw other people owning up to their responsibilities, other people might think twice about the possible consequences of their actions.

My thoughts exactly.

I think she should loose her crown, last I heard Trump was allowing her to stay.
I agree with that too. I have nothing against them personally, but they are not great role models period whether they drink illegally or do drugs. These shows commidify women. IMHO
