Yeah I got that too and he says
"P.S.: Soy sauce is fine. Unlike soy milk, it's perfectly safe because it's fermented, which changes its molecular structure. Miso, natto and tempeh are also OK, but avoid tofu. "
and there's an ad for Tofu too

What planet are some people on?

If his 'philosophy' is right and Soy made boys feminine and gay then, surely there would be no gay women as they would be more feminine and fancy guys...Right?

sad little man

I believe this ioriginates from the Scientologists. I worked for one once and he told me the same thing about my son..who was on Soy-based formula.. He also told me that the soy will....how do I say this?......Shrink his nether regions.. I can say as a mother who gives the child a bath everyday, that soy did NOT effect the child

I could tell you LOTS of things this man told me.

Wow... that was really strange and oddly funny.

It appears that he has WAY to much time on his hands!

I guess that makes me gay?
I was allergic to all animal protein the first 5 years of my life, alot of what I ate and drank was soy based.
To this day I still prefer soy, rice or almond milk to cow's milk.
yep he is 100% right. soy milk is bad for males.
for females it has the normal effect it is supposed to. for males it will increase the chance of growing a hmm bumps on the chest how causing other male things to shrink is length. of course he failed to talk about that, but the truth is a scary thing.

As for tofu, i am sure you know that it comes from toe funk that is removed from in between the toes.. They add water and mix then let stand for 5 years, then the health food people try to tell you that is good for you

*wipes tear from eyes*

No seriously he's joking right?

Not saying he is totally correct or anything, but I wonder if he isn't correct about estrogen being in soy. When my big sis went into menopause someone told her to start drinking this soy drink. And it really did help her. Now that I am following in her footsteps (hitting menopause early) I tried it too. I have to say it does help the hot flashes. I got out of the habit of drinking it every day and now I am The Human Torch again. I gotta get back on it again. I never knew WHY is worked. Just that it did.

There is some truth to soy and other phytoestrogen rich foods having effects of diamorphic sexual characteristics, but it's really not what you'd expect or what this article describes. Here's a study from pub-med that I found kind of interesting:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/q...&dopt=Citation

But there's absolutely no mention about male sexual preference or fertility. My guess is that if phytoestrogens have any effect of primary sexual characteristics (which the scholarly article didn't mention at all), it's probably a case where you'd have to eat nothing by phytoestrogen or something. I'm going to go see if I can find an article with numbers, but anecdotally...let's just say I have straight guy friends who constantly eat soy, I've had vegan boyfriends and know a lot of veg/vegan daddies who have had no trouble a) presenting as heterosexual b) producing babies c) having normal and normally sized organs.

Ignorance must be bliss for some people There is nothing wrong or "gay" about Soy products! They are an excellent alternative for people who are lactose intolerante or just want a healthy alternative. I swear- people seriously need to find something better to do with their time

Here's another article, by a doctor based on tests, and this one suggests that when male primates OD on isoflavones (or phytoestrogens) they become more aggressive (certianly not what people see when they picture the "stereotypical" gay person!)

http://www.healthcentral.com/drdean/408/60845.html

I've also heard, but can't find the research, that the reason soy can be so good for women in overcoming certain cancers is because they phytoestrogens can take on anti-estrogen like qualities to combat the effects of naturally occuring estrogens that cause things like breast cancer.

No kidding!! Tofu tastes like to me! It's sooo gross

DH is vegan and eats a lot of soy, I can personally guarantee you that he is not gay!

What will they come up with next

I didn't enjoy Will and Grace before I ate tofu- let this be a warning to the other men on this forum

As a baby, my son Mark had a milk allergy and was on a soy-based formula. He is now 28, around 6', 170#, well-muscled, hairy and the father of three. Good thing, he was on this "feminizing" formula - I'd hate to have a 9' gorilla, for a son

Oh, yeah. I'm definetly not saying that he was right about the gay thing at all. Just wondering if maybe he took a small bit of fact and came to some really off the wall conclusion. I know drinking that stuff has helped me so far.

biggest crock of.......kitty litter i have ever heard.
I'm just going to giggle and keep eating my soyburger... If plant estrogen controls who we're sexually attracted to, then what to all the hormones and steroids in meat do? *sigh*

It was good for a laugh, thanks! My favorite part is "long-term soy use" like its a drug.

all i can think about (if this article was true about soy/gay) is a gay skinny man with boobies
post #28 of 34
**snort**. My cousin is gay, I shall have to ask his Mum if she fed him lots of soy. She kinda thought that it might be because she made him tuck his shirt in for all those years
post #29 of 34
I take Soy and I burn Soy candles. I'm not gay, at least I don't think I am.

Wow, nice title! I almost died laughing when I saw this thread. My son son drank Soy formula for the first year of his life, and I am telling you he would make one ugly girl. You can definately tell he is a boy!

His father may I add, also drank Soy Milk for roughly 3 years of his life and he is a 5'10 big strong looking hairy dude, and definately not gay

I think its pretty ridiculous for them to state such a comment. Has anyone ever heard of the saying 'Homosexuals (gays) are not made, they are born' I believe this 100%
