As many of you know, my dear Leo went to the bridge a week ago. Now all the rest of my babies are establishing a new order. Of course Fred is still the alpha, but Georgia is acting like she is trying to take over. She is very young and spunky, and is being very mean to Pearl, who is just now becoming an active member of the household at 2 years old. Fred and Pearl seem to be greiving for Leo, but Georgia is just being hateful. If I were not so attatched to her, I would rehome her. I can't let her impede Pearl's progress. She was abused and spent the better part of her life hiding. She was doing so well, but now is retreating, but not as much as she had. I am at my wits end. I miss my big boy so much, and now this. Any advice would be welcome.

Krazy,

Unless they are drawing blood on each other, they will figure it out. It is a bit worrisome to see them posturing at each other, but they need to figure out who is going to lead. Plus they are confused as to where their friend vanished to and that can set them on edge.

I am going to move this to the Behavior forum for you where more knowledgeable folk can pitch in their ideas.

I also did not tell you yet, but I am sorry for your loss.

First, I am so sorry for your loss. I know how hard it is to say goodbye.
One thing I would try is putting Georia in a room of her own. Let her out for short periods of time when you can supervise. It may just be a stress issue. Sometimes animals get confused when there is something bothering them and they can lash out in strange ways. It's possible that she just needs a little more "alone" time.
