Anyone got ideas on what 6 year old girls like these days??

We're spending christmas with friends and their 6 year old girl and I don't want to get something daggy just because I thought I liked it when I was a similar age....

I think she's a pretty average girl - likes girly things, isn't over mature for her age or anything like that.

My suggestion: Some My Little Ponies. They are very reasonable in price, very collectable, and will only go up in value as the years go by. Not to mention that almost every little and big girl for that matter loves My Little Ponies.

As the mom of a 5.5 year old..let me tell you! lol

Like the others said, my little pony, barbie anything, little mermaid anything. I would honestly ask mom what she is already getting or what she might like. She might be super into Dora or Carebears or strawberry shortcake.
You also don't want to get somethign with lots of little pieces if she has a baby brother or sister around.
Your best bet is to ask mom what you could get her.

One of the things my daughter is getting is board game box that is Dora. It has like 8 games in one box. It's 20$. Old maid, checkers, go fish.... A lot of kids that age don't have board games yet and that's the transition age too. My mom got her guess who for her birthday and she loves it! We also have candy land, lemonade stand.
I wanted to buy Race to the roof for her because I played that as a kid but it's sold out *grumble*

The 9 year old I've been watching for a coupld years now is into Barbies, My Little Ponies, Littlest Pet Shop, American Girl (you could ask her parents if she has one and which one and then get a reasonably pricced accessory for the doll), anything pink, anything sparkley and Disney Princesses.

She also likes plain old stuffed animals.

I just thought of something...you could get her a gift certificate to build a bear...the american girl thing triggered. If she doesnt' have one, she could get one or she could buy clothes..

Movin' on up!
My granddaughters are 3 1/2 and they love Dora the Explorer. I looked at that Dora game box but settled for just a checkers set, this year.

Perhaps books or some sort of art supplies? There are some really cool easel/art paper/paint sets out there. (The twins will probably get those, for their next birthday)

Bratz are very poplualr also and not too expensive.
my 5 year old Neices LOVE Bratz and Barbie!!! They don't care for the My Little Ponies though.
Why not ask her parents what she likes?!

My niece got an early Christmas this year (will be away during Christmas) and I got a My Little Pony
. Granted, she's only 1 1/2 years old, but she likes things to thump around, and it helps that she seems really partial to animals (she's hogging all my childhood horse toys, lol). Plus, I just want to get her started on being a fellow horse fanatic, lol. Does that make me bad?
