Can cats be allergic to Nylon?

I had a nylon halter on Puff. Yesterday I noticed that he has been biting at the nylon halter a lot. So I took it off and he's rubbed raw! I don't know if he's bitten the hair off or if the nylon did it. But I was just wondering of the nylon could cause an allergic reaction? Needless to say I have to get somthing else for him.

I guess, the same as they can get acne from food bowls, they could have allergies to nylon... but it could just be from the biting - why not try a non nylon one when the areas have healed - if he carries on biting he just doesn't like it!
