Thanks...will try to get photos of him up, but have so much to do right now, inventory, state taxes etc.
I made his apt for next weekend, so by mid of the week after this, we should have results and a better gauge on how he's doing.

He's spending more time snoozing and has a "blanket" so to speak of a catnip toy I gave him for Christmas. He goes right to it after his meds and snuggles with it.

Continuing hugs
and good vibes for you and Tippy. I hope he continues to eat and that you can find a meds regimen that will help him.

We took Tippy in to see how his kidney function is now that he's been on calcitriol for 3 weeks, and to get a doppler b/p done.

He had his labs drawn, urine sample obtained and was so good for them. However, his bp was way up...even knocking off 20 points for being nervous, it was too high, so he's now on medication for it, and we wait for his labs to come back.

He's lost 3 ounces, but I'm hoping a wet food I just ordered for him (lower protein, lower phos hi-tor) will be something he likes and that his pancreatitis is resolved so it's not an issue.

I'll post another update once I have his lab results back.

Thanks for the update. I hope Tippy does well on the new food and his bp medicine does its job.I assume they did do the ultrasound on his kidneys since you mentioned the cysts take up most of the kidneys. Did they mention the measurement of the cysts? Pat, I hate to say this but Tippy's PKD sounds pretty advanced. I'm really worried about him. And you. Just know you are both in my thoughts every day.

I am pretty worried about him too. I didn't ask what size the cysts were, but I will when I speak with his vet tomorrow, about the lab results. It wasn't my regular vet who called to give me the sono results, but the vet who did just kept saying she was sorry
I got the impression it is very advanced, and as I've said, this is a total shocker to me, and was to them as well. It was as if out of the blue.

I truly just want to keep him comfy and if I can, if he's happy, extend his life until I can't keep him comfy and he's not happy. I am expecting to lose him within this year.

Well, you're doing a great job and Tippy is very lucky to have someone like you, who is so devouted, just care for him, keep him comfy and love him. I think they realize these things too. I'm convinced that Jake understands he should have died twice already. He's just become too loyal and clingy to not understand. You can just tell he knows. And I'm sure Tippy knows as well.

I'm very sorry to hear about your Tippy.

It seems that God believes you are exactly the right person to care for his ailing kitties, so my prayers go out for you to have the love to share, the strength to maintain and the goodness to continue your mission of love.

Tippy came to the right driveway to find his loving caretaker.

Please know that my thoughts are with you and Tippy...if it makes you feel any better, my mom's older cat had the same thing happen...she went on fluid treatments 3 times a week for about a year, but now she's off them and fine as can be.

Thank you very much, but Tippy's renal failure is from polycystic kidney disease...the cysts in his kidneys are quite large apparently & there is no way to shrink them so this will progress. All we can do is to make him comfortable and try to slow the progression of renal failure.

Thank you, hadn't thought of it that way
