Go out to your local arts/crafts store and pick up some floral wire (it's green...get a thicker gauge of it) and some wire cutters. When you get home, wire the ornaments to the branches so that the kitties can't knock them off. Also, try spraying a little bit of bitter apple spray on the branches and tree skirt to detour them.

we also use wire (clear) to actually tie the tree to the wall. So if they climb it it wont come down. Works really well!!!

Mine don't bother it now.I put a REALLY strong smelling lemon car freshener under it and one on the branch. They don't go over to it even with candy canes on the tree.

GREAT advice, everyone... even the "not putitng the tree up at all" advice.... LOL
But I have 2 little girls who had such sad faces and begged for the tree. So finally i gave in and put it up yesturday.
Lilo, Garfield and Petals dont touch the tree!! Such good fuzzy butts. Now Tink is the problem!!! LOL
I will try the wire and the bitter apple spray. Also the lemon air freshner... it might take all I can get... LOL
Thanks!!!

I've got dark green, small holed netting on the bottom half (maybe 2/3rds) or my tree, that is gathered underneath around the trunk. I originally did it for my toddler, but soon discovered that ornaments weren't being batted around the house at midnight, either (and the dog can't get the "balls" off the tree-LOL). When my cats were younger, I would secure it to the wall with heavy duty fishing line (to the top of the window trim) so it wouldn't fall over.(They're so disinterested now that I can't even get a pic of them in front of the tree
).I'll try to post a pic- I think I have one in Photobucket
. You can barely see the netting
.
