Heard tonight on a local broadcast that the soldiers really need Silly String. Apparently, before they breach a house or building, they spray this stuff in the air and it lands on and makes visible to them any trip wires or other booby traps. Thought it important enough to pass the word along.

Thanks for that MA! My best friends boyfriend is currently over there, I'll be sure to tell her about that next time she sends over his care package!

I read about that the other day. Apparently they use the silly string to test for booby traps. If the silly string lands safely, its OK to move ahead. If the silly string follows with a loud "BOOM" wait for things to clear.

I do too. I wish I had the money to get them all of the safety things that ALL of them need. I do what I can though- at least if i do a little and others do a little as well- someone will benifit from it and to that someone it will mean something that they have the love and support of their fellow countrymen/countrywomen

I went to a care packaging event a few weeks ago put on by a group called Their Angels, and they were talking about the silly string. I am going to look for some to donate to the packages.
