Well, I finally put up a Christmas tree after going 3 years without one because of my babies thinking the tree was a new "toy" for them and just would not stay out of it.

So I decided this year I would give it another try. Everything has been good, no ornaments pulled off, no climbing the tree, no biting the lights, no tree laying flat on the floor.

But this morning I woke up to find a small area of vomit on the floor that contained some of the Christmas tree (fake tree) in it. I dont know who did it and I am keeping a close eye on them all. So far everyone is being normal and frisky, as they usually are when I wake up.

But to be on the safe side, I took down my tree this morning
What a job that was, but it had to be done some time, it was just a little earlier than expected.

I don't know why they'd want to eat a REAL tree
Reeses likes to nibble on a branch here and there. So far no harm done. Although yesterday I found one of the green christmas balls in our hall minus it's hook. I looked everywhere but couldn't find the hook (granted it could be anywhere, it kind of blends with our carpet and could even still be on the tree or in the tree skirt). I just hope she didn't swallow it. She hasn't acted sick or like she was in pain and I would imagine that just like if you or I swallowed a semi-sharp metal hook, she would be

Awww Pam, I'm sorry too..... I wish you had an extra room you could keep it in, sans the kittens.....like a dining room with french doors or something, you could lock the tree terrorizers out.....

Your tree was beautiful.
So is your home....
I have not had a tree in years nor do I use indoor plants..
To me, it not worth the risk.

I love your babies cat tree.

Thank You! I wont be putting a tree up again. Its just too much of a risk with my baby's. I dont have indoor (real) plants, either, just fake ones, thats another thing that scares me with my baby's.

The cat tree is their early Christmas present.

I completely concur!! It's been about 13 years since we've put up a tree here.

My friend makes a hanging collage of ornaments that her cats can't get to. I hang ornaments from little hooks around the house so that we at least have some decorations. There's ways around it.

I love the new cat "tree". Perhaps hang dangling cat toys from it? Red, gold and green toys?

Awww Pam, sorry you had to take your beautiful tree down, but the kitties come first! And now that is one less thing you have to worry about doing after Christmas unlike the rest of us
