I was curious to know if other cats do what Gizmo does when she stretches.

Gizmo will sit on my lap curled in a ball. She then stre-e-e-e-etches her front legs and tilts her head back, extending her front legs to the maximum length. While she does this...
her ears are flapping up and down rapidly, as if she was trying to imitate a moth's wing.

Is this normal? Upstairs Neighbours tell me that their cats don't do it.

After reading the Behavior forum for five months I have come to the conclusion that every thing a cat does is NORMAL for that cat! But yes, I used to have a female cat that did the very same thing that you are describing.

Hi there Persi's mom,

Well, that makes Gizmo eccentric, but not unique. I have spoken to a number of other cat owners today and none of their kits do that.

Maybe it's a female-cat thing.

cheers

Reeses usually wiggles one ear at a time when she's just sitting there or sometimes after her clean-up routine.

Reeses's behaviour is even more unusual than Gizmo's...

Gizmo wiggles both at the same time, very rapidly, and only while stretching while in a seated position.
