Ok...so here's the deal- there is a stunning chocolate seal point siamese at my shelter. His name is Nile. He has gorgeous blue eyes and would "sing" to you all day long if you let him. He's extremly vocal and very affectionate. I saw him on Monday....and he was still there today when I went to speak with the vet about my foster kittens. He is an adult male. probably around 2-3 yrs old. I'm not sure what his story is, but i will find out. I held him on Monday and of course i had to hold him again today. He is such a handsome little guy! I am dying to take him home with me!!!!! I'd post a link, but we don't have any pictures posted of him on our website at the moment. I was just thinking about it....but someone PLEASE tell me I don't need to adopt another kitty right now
Talk some sense into me

That's what I was thinking too. I always foster kittens....but I try to just adopt older animals if at all possible for that very reason. I just am not sure adopting him is such a super idea at the moment. I'm not sure Colin would go for it. We'll see. I think Nile will find a good home soon- but if he doesn't I will definitely foster him for a few days and just see how he does with my crew and if they're compatiable with one another. I would LOVE to adopt him though- he's such a sweet little guy! And is soooooooo vocal!!! (I love that!
) My buddies up at the shelter have my number and promised they'd call if he got a home. I'm going back to the shelter next thursday to take the kittens to see the vet (she's at the shelter ever thurs.)...so if he's still there....welll....hehe, i might just have to butter colin up
/ I adopted my little torti-point Jasmine as an adult and i couldn't be happier!!! She is such a joy to be around! Fosters was also an adult when Colin and I adopted him, as is my bunny Sophie
/ Abilene I rescued 1/2 drowned with a litter of her siblings (all found excellent homes- i kept her because she was the most feral/unadoptable of the bunch)/ Isabella had been severly abused by a byb and dumped off at a high kill shelter when my rescue group picked her up. She was only a few months old at the time, and one of the shelter vets (who has since been fired) completly botched her spay. She was soooooooooo petrified of everyone and everything at first. I was the only person she trusted/came out around....so i just couldn't let her go. (I took her back up to the shelter the day I was supposed to place her up for adoption- and she looked out the window at me crying. I swear to you- i cried the entire way home that night and didn't sleep at all. The next day I went back up there and adopted her for good
/ Velvet is a rescue from an extremly high kill shelter. They were going to euthanize her and all of her fellow littermates when she was a kitten, so we rescued her
/ so yea, lol i'm partial to rescued animals
and if at all possible, i love to adopt the adults- their additudes are established, what you see is what you get, and you can see how they do with your other animals and all
/ I might take Colin up to the shelter with me soon "just to walk the doggies" and sneak him into the kitty room to see Nile

AWww, I think you wouldn't be sorry if you adopted him!! I adopted a Siamese and he turned out to be the nicest, sweetest, laid back cat I've ever seen. I think he'll prove very regal for you!

I think a lot of people do adopt older ones for the same reason, most people want kittens and they want to give an adult a home. Older people like them too, kittens can be rough on elderly poeple. I think if he is as sweet as you say, and a beautiful siamese he wont be there long (so if you do want him, don't miss your chance and wait
) A lot of people love siamese, so that's in his favor too. Some one will take him probley quik, so I would hold out and wait for one that really needed a home and doesn't have much chance. Either way, you won't be sorry (unless you drag your butt and miss out on him, if you really want him
)

You want us to tell you NOT to go and get him? I think you are asking the wrong people if that is the advice you are after

I think Nikki knew we would tell her to go get him!

Although, IMO, you should leave Nile at the shelter. He is pretty & healthy. If you are considering adopting, go for a "special needs" cat. Maybe a deaf one or a blind one?
Just my 2 cents!

Nikki, I say listen to your heart in this..............not your brain. If it feels right, then get him.If you are even second guessing it, then I wouldn't.You could always foster as you said to see how it goes.
I can HONESTLY say, I won't be adoping any more kits/cats, because I am at my limit.
