There is no Hell mentioned in the Bible. Nowhere. It doesn't say you will be thrown in the firey pit if you don't believe.

By virtue of the path I'm following in life, I'm guessing it's obvious that I'm a pretty religious person, believe in God, the power of prayer, etc... My faith has brought me brought me joy and seen me through tough times, but that's my experience.
I'd love for everyone to embrace faith and accept God in their lives in some way but, because we've all had different upbringings and different experiences, that's just not realistic and I accept that. For me, what's most important is treating each other (and all creatures) with respect and compassion, reaching out to those in need and embracing and enjoying what makes us different. Hey everyone, here's an update on what happened just the past couple days.
Apparently, threatening to call the police didn't do squat. The guy just kept coming back. On Friday I ended up calling the police when I heard him knocking, but by the time they showed up he was gone (must've smelled them coming). The police themselves weren't very helpful, filed a report, said they couldn't do anything unless they have several witnesses or proof of harassment, blah blah. Well, the guy came back yesterday, this time with a friend, and they didn't even introduce themselves to me this time. They started with the "we're trying to save you" and "you're going to hell" BS right off the bat. Ugh, I basically ran to my car with my apt. door wide open, jumped in, and burned rubber on my way out. What is wrong with these people? |

Get a video camera that has the time/date on it. Record yourself telling them to not come back. Call the police everytime they show up. Get their names (most of the ones who come around here have name tags). This is blatant harrassment- this has nothing to do with religion now, even if it started out that way.
If you can, I'd let my apartment manager know everytime they come by, or call a neighbor who can also see them leaving or, even better, see you telling them to go away and not to come back. |

(not that I didn't get a little caught up either
)
because it's fun?
) then at some point, everything will work out ok. If life has been tough then maybe you'll be reincarnated into a luckier life, maybe you'll go to heaven or maybe you'll become one with everything in the world like in the Phillip Pullman books. Either way, I believe that no kind or good god would send someone to hell or variation of just for not believing in them.

Ummm..sooooo why is everyone still arguing religion? I thought this was a topic about door-to door harassers, not about which religion is right or wrong?? Form your own IMO topic for that!
(not that I didn't get a little caught up either ) |

ummmm... yes, there is.
Revelation 21:8 But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death." to me, there's very little difference between a fiery lake and a fiery pit. |

Revelation is one of my favorite books of the bible. It reads like Tolkien.

Darn it, you are right, I looked it up. I have never been able to get through all of Revelation, since it is so open to interpretation. I am not sure what to think about Revelations and never have been.
