Hi..
They can mature very early. By the time they are 6months and should be neutered they can already have mated, so getting a male (or any cat really) done early as possible is best, some vets will do it as early as 12 weeks if they weigh 2 lbs. By 8 months a lot of males can or are already fathers to litters. They can even mature and mate as early as 4 or 5 months, not so comon, but certainly possible. Talk with your vet to see if they offer pediatic alters or be sure he isn't around a female and neutered by 6 months.

Earliest I've heard (from a siamese breeder) was a 5 month old male breeding and producing kittens. Her kitten was running with adult females. She didn't think he knew anything - never acted interested; however one of the females turned up pregnant and the ONLY male was the baby.

He became a daddy at 7 months of age. I'm sure you might even find a 4 month old male breeding or at least attempting. My ocicat breeder told me she can't show females cause they come into heat early. Charlie's mom had her first kitten heat at 4 months old.

I had just seen your post saying that the female had a heat at 4 months, so I said that they can be active that early, no one else had answered it, so I wanted the OP to know the can become mature early, I haven't had or seen any be that young, but it is possible, atleast for 5 months, mabey not 4, but I thought the OP should have an answer

Last year, a breeder called me shocked that her 5 month old kitten, who was still comfort nursing on his Mom, also bred his Mom. He sired a litter at 7 months of age. The breeder gave away this accidental breeding to family and friends because of the inbreeding, however, it just shows that any breed, no matter how slow they are to mature on average can sire or queen a litter very early.

The earliest I have had a female go into heat is 5 months old, but I have no doubts that at some point, I may see a female go earlier.

If one isn't planning on breeding, it is my opinion that the earlier you can spay or neuter your pet, the better for the pet, and for the one who has to worry about the accidental pregnancy or dealing with unwanted hormones.
