Doodle loves to lick us

So, this isn't a problem really, but one of our little cats absolutely loves to lick people. She will go on and on for quite a while licking our arms and faces. I was wondering if anyone knows why a cat would enjoy this so much? I have never had any of my cats do this before. She is very very affectionate and we raised her (along with her mom who we rescued) from a newborn. We have handled her from the day she was born.

I have a kitten who does this, too.

She is RELENTLESS in the morning.

I have an adult cat that licks.
I think of it as mutual grooming, we pet her, she licks us.
She used to overgroom herself, now she overgrooms us.

yes, it is in the morning the most! we have to hide under the covers from her! I guess she wants us to get up, my other cat Gina just punches me in the face when she thinks I need to get up with her. Thats wierd too.

My Ellie loves to do that too. SHe has always liked to lick and even suck on people's bare flesh!

I personally love the feel of their sandpaper toungue which was deisgned as a much more cleaning device than a dog's. Maybey he is just returning his love to you in his own way, or perhaps he can smell something on your body that you do not realize is there since they have such a higher degree of smilling kills. Whatever it is, it is always fun to see the expression of die hard dog owners that think that only dogs lick people.

Definately I know she loves us, she licks my son the most and she is his cat really.
