I took Spanish, it was the only language course offered. I would have loved to take Latin, French and Italian.

I took Spanish, but I don't remember much of it now. (I can understand more than I can speak.)

What I do remember, though, is how to swear is Spanish.
When I worked at the restaurant, though, I struck up a deal with some of the workers who were from Mexico there...I helped them with their English, and they helped me with my Spanish. They taught me all the nasty words.

Here... or There... Hmmm
I took Latin and was horrible. I took German and loved it but only did one year. I can read a bit of it, I remember my alphabet, can count to 20and can still say "I want to go home!" in German!!

I took French from grades 4-8, but couldn't in high school since we didn't have a French teacher.

I can certainly understand that; when I was in Quebec last month, I could find no one to translate into English the ferry schedule across the St Lawrence for me. But in Ontario I had no problems.

I took German for 5 years (started in middle school). We had French, Spanish, or German, but I took German because the French and Spanish students only got to go to Spain and France for 2 weeks and as tourists (in high school), but the German students got to go to Germany for a full month and actually live with a family. I figured that was going to be a bigger lesson in their country's culture than touring a country as a pack.
I loved all my years in German and absolutely loved Germany!
It's something I will never forget.

French.

Since then I've learned Danish, some Spanish and American Sign Language.

Unfortunately the old addage of "If you don't use it you lose it!" is true.

I was Latin Club President! I wanted to learn Italian but it wasn't an option. I love ancient architecture and things, so I had a good time learning the language to learn about the culture and things.

Nothing....everyone else was being smart and saying stuff in other languages so I had to chime in in and leave her a little message. Don't think anyone got it.
I thought I was funny.
