I hate stores and have resorted to store shopping at the mall across the street from my office - it only has Macy's and Sears, and about 6 store in between so the mall is empty most of the time.

I buy most of my gifts online cause it's just easier to do it that way, and they will ship to my recipients!

But here's my real problem with online gift shopping: My sister sends Harry and David gift towers to everyone in the family every year. She has that place all locked up and I can't buy from them (at least for my family). I'm looking for other cool online places (anyone)? Food is always good to give......

Thanks for the thread Pat!!

Thanks for the thread Pat!!
We received a basket of cookies last year from one brother-in-law - from the Mrs. Fields catalog...they were very, very good!
and I found a lovely site for lavender items (neat gift basket for $20 plus ship)...www.lostmountainlavender.com....I chose the lavender and sweet orange option, and know my friend will love it.

For cheeses and imported items, I also like www.igourmet.com

Cool!

Did you know that you can shop online and give to charities at the same time? Check out www.igive.com . My Humane Society found out about it and signed themselves up a a recipient. Different businesses give different %'s of their sales - some are low (1-2%) and others can go over 10%.

But in order for your charity to receive funds, you have to go to the online store thru igive. Harry and David is in there (2.4%), and I remember seeing igourmet.com (4.8%). You'd be surprised how many online businesses will donate to charities.

So, you shop online, avoid the malls, and earn money for charities all at the same time!

(and if you don't find a charity that you like, go ahead and use Help Humane Society of Raymore Missouri)

I am shopping as I post!

I really like to shop local (to keep the small business from being smothered by corporates) and am lucky that a lot of the food ones now offer online orders and delivery!

There's nothing better than having your heavy shopping delivered straight to your door - my Postman and Parcel Force guy knows me on first name terms now!

I don't mind the crowds if it's somewhere special (like the Christmas Market I posted about) as there are so many different things that you wouldn't normally be able to find online! But for ease, I really do enjoy browsing without the crowds and coming home in agonising pain from the walking!

I personally used to be able to reply to every single thread on the lounge forum, but now they have tripled my work load! Can you believe the NERVE of my boss?! I mean, this is really cutting into my TCS time!!!
Also, alot of times if I reply once, I don't always get time to go back & check the thread again, or if I do, I just respond to whomever specifically posted something to me....and sorta skim the responses in between, no harm intended.

Online Shopping! LOVE IT!!!! You can get the stuff you want without having to drive to the mall that's further away, or without having to go to 37 different stores to find out if they are selling mens Uggs slippers. Yes, that was my search this year for DH.
But I also find it easier for party supplies. You can get all the matching stuff you want in whatever theme, without going to say Party City and having them be out of some of the stuff you need. Fab sites: bluefly.com ashford.com overstock.com
I am even now getting my soft claws online, $40 for 3 packs, and you can get the 3 packs in different sizes, so I get 3 small blues for Louie, who runs through his like water, and 1 med red pack for LuckyGirl, who will take 6 months to go through her 1 pack.

Oh yes! Cat supplies!
I definitely prefer to buy my cat supplies online as it really gives me a broader choice of products and saves me from lugging 34lb bags of litter around!

90% of the gifts I purchased last year were done online.
The internet is a great tool and quite frankly I don't what I do without it.
There's actually a mall only 5 minutes from me but when it comes to comparsion shopping I would much rather shop online than go from store to store to store.

I LOVE online shopping. The only thing I won't buy online is shoes or purses (I'm picky with what goes on my feet, I have high arches on both feet so its hard to find a decent pair of shoes sometimes).

Anyhoo, it comes in handy, especially birthdays and this time of year as I can have everything shipped to me at work so I can hide all of B's presents there. Most years I just wrap his presents there, but luckily this year he's going to Vegas before Christmas so I can bring his stuff home and wrap it then.

Online shopping just makes my life so easy!! Somedays I think about joining Schwann's...cause at that point the only time I would need to leave the house is to buy shoes!

I do 95% of my shopping online. My family is scattered through out the US so if I do go to a store I then have to run into the Post office and ship it. I figure that I should just cut out the middle man. Also, the only time I go shopping in a store is for pants. I have a really weird body type so shopping for jeans and such online can be a real pain.

I love to shop online but don't do it as often as I'd like as I have problems with deliveries. As I'm out at work all day and there's nowhere safe to leave parcels I tend to have to go to collect parcels from the depot. That's if I'm lucky. If I'm unlucky there will be no card put through and I end up chasing it up only to find the courier claims to have attempted delivery and that my parcel has been returned to the store
I had a nightmare with a delivery from Amazon UK last christmas as I got home to find a card had been put through but with no phone number. I had to ring all over the place to try and get a number for the independent courier who had responsibility for the delivery (and was none to pleased when I did speak to her to be told "oh yes - I know the one - it's on my sofa at the moment" as I heard kids playing in the background). I've reverted back to shopping in real shops a lot now unless it's for something small enough to fit through the letterbox.

It's no one in particular, honest. Just that I am so often unable to spend much time here lately that when I do..well, gee...doesn't everyone see my pearls of wisdom and want to respond?

Love having a reason to get an upgrade ...our coffee maker (also did espresso) and our microwave both died...we now have a wonderful new Panasonic Microwave that does such snazzy things as sensor cook and sensor reheat (so far perfect for everything I've tried). How easy can it get. Just hit sensor reheat and it figures out the amount of time and power levels needed
And our new Cusinart coffeemaker doesn't need a carafe...it stores up to 12 cups of coffee inside, auto turns off, keeps it the perfect temp w/no bitterness. Both found online for no tax, no shipping, after dh did some research on various models for both.

Yup..sometimes it's wonderful when things break

Eh...not really. I like being out there and physically touching things. Plus, there are all of those annoying fields to fill out and page after page of options and info I need to provide, and then I seem to miss the UPS/DHL person EVERY SINGLE TIME I order something. I'd rather just go to a store and pick it up myself!
