Sour smell coming from posterior?

Lately Shami's been smelling funny. Usually he just smells like poo when he shows me his posterior (seems to like to do it when I stare at my computer screen). Lately he's been smelling sort of sour. Any idea what this might be? He doesn't seem sick or have any change in temperment, just this funny smell.

if he's unaltered it could just be the less nice smell of fertile male

Could he be having an anal gland problem? I have 2 cats that need to be expressed from time to time. I can tell it's time when they get a very sour, stinky smell from their behinds.

Yeah! It smells pretty sour. Don't think it's male smell since he's been neutered (or that's what the humane society said, still have to wait and see). Is it common for kittens to have anal gland problems? I think it's making him slightly constipated too, he hasn't gone number 2 in a day or two, and last night he left me humongous pile.
