abs had chin acne and after reading the posts about plastic I stopped using her plastic mat and it is almost totally gone. I have always used ceramic dishes but the mat was a cuprit too. Thanks everyone.
I had never heard of this before, guess I am still kind of a newbie to most. But I do know how to use the SEARCH button on the tool bar and I just entered acne and found all the letters that you had received and everybody else. I had ignored that button for so long and I have found it to be SO USEFUL in locating information under ANY forum on the site. Many people worry about being on the right forum, just use the SEARCH button! Oh, and thanks, I am heading out now to toss my plastic mat.Originally Posted by Abigail

I'm the same as you - they are never fed twice in the same dish unless it is washed in between. I wouldn't want to eat all my meals in one or two days on the same plate that's not washed between meals, so why would I do that to my kitties.Originally Posted by Mermaid
My cats both have chin acne, and both eat from wide, shallow steel bowls. What helped was making sure the bowls were kept very clean. I used to throw food in their bowls for a couple of nights before washing them, and as soon as I started washing them every night, their acne improved a great deal. It's still there a little on both of them, but it's a lot better than it was.
Ditto. My babies eat only from a clean dish for every meal.Originally Posted by Yosemite

Its my bottom rack thats FULL, alwaysOriginally Posted by jcat
I'm glad to hear you got to the bottom of it. I use clean bowls for every meal, too - the top rack of the dishwasher is full of cat bowls!
The cat bowls fit better in the top here. I run the dishwasher every other day, and generally end up with around 24 cat bowls (dry, wet, cat milk, water, times 3). Heck, I have a huge collection of glass, china, and stainless steel cat bowls.I've never actually counted, but I'd estimate that I have 35 to 60 cat bowls, all for a 1-cat, 2-person household (plus two "shared" cats, backyard hedgehogs, and any hungry stray/neighborhood cat that convinces me that he/she is "starving"). We currently have two double, and one single, kitchen cabinets full of bowls and cat food.Originally Posted by Pami

You sound exactly like me. I have some separate bowls that a neighborhood cat (with permission of his owner) gets his wet food everyday. With 5 cats, 1 dog and 1 outside neighborhood cat, I have to wash every single day! Oh what fun it is!Originally Posted by jcat
