Welcome! You are new here but if you look up at the top you can find a search button. You can use this to find other people that have cats and rats. In fact, there is a forum dedicated especially produced for owners of cats and rats but I will not mention that here because you have arrived at the best place around already. I will tell you one thing right now! I love old movies and James Cagney never once, never, ever said "All right, you dirty rats" like everybody seems to think.

I get annoyed at people who think my hamster is nothing but a rodent that should be killed, I can't imagine what people are like with people who have rats, at least to a great extent, hamsters are seen as cuter etc

Where does it stop? Squirrels are also viewed as dirty rotten rodents. I will bet you that half the squashed squirrels you see (and I see a lot in this area) were done with no avoidance whatsoever.

Welcome to the site! I can imagine how frustrating it is when people talk about your rat that way My fiance's son had a rat until recently. I think they are great pets There are a few other member's here I can think of who have them. You should post a picture in the "Cats and Other Animals" forum

Hey 30/30-150 and loved ones:

Welcome to TheCatSite and sure am glad you found us here -- couldn't agree with you more! Doing fine, thanks -- we are 9! rescued, indoor-only, spayed/neutered of course! felines -- I am the eldest at going on 17, and Baby Su is the youngest, at just 2. Our devoted servant has lived with, loved, rescued, and advoCATed for cats all her life, and she's an activist/advocate, too. We live right now out in the Mojave Desert, with four hens, plus anyone else who wants to live here or visit, including jack and cottontail rabbits, wood and kangaroo rats, mice, lizards, snakes, birds, insects, squirrels, chipmunks, and who knows who! but we're going to have to relocate back to the city soon -- all 9 of us and our servant, that is. The chickens may go, or they may be adopted out...and we hope that this place is sold to someone else who loves animals as much as our servant does.

Look forward to chatting!
