I really do love my cats and I don't know why I can't make up my mind on if I should change their cat food. everyone said Nutro is the way to go. In my area the only things available is things from Walmart and Rural King..well Rural King does have the nutro but that is probably the best thing they have.

I already started my two male kittens (both around 7-9 months) On Purina Cat chow for indoor cats..they both like it and are doing well on it but is it unhealthy and should I change it to Nutro? Price doesn't really matter. I just want to do the best thing for them.

Also will the Nutro make them gain weight? And will it give them UTI? that is the main things I am worried about with them.

thanks. Please help me make a final decision. LOL. If you tell me to get the nutro I will pick it up tomorrow and switch them for good.

thanks.

Nutro max is speciallly formulated for UTI issues ... Natural choice is "better" by ingrediants but is not UTI certified ... Mine didnt gain but some do ( varies by kitty)
I have used it with good results ....

Personally, I feel that the Nutro Natural Choice is the way to go. Really, if it is unavailable to you in your area, consider ordering your cat food from one of the online pet food vendors...you can get some good deals. If you need to purchase your food from Wal-Mart, Iams is quite a bit of a leap above Cat Chow...so don't rule that out if it's your only option.

Just wanted to let you know I switched my healthy cats over to Purina Cat Chow indoor (due to being the only food that didn't make my one cat constantly throw up), and now my other cat is having UTI problems. I am thinking it was caused by switching to the crappy food.

I am in the process of switching food too. I am debating between Nuto and Chicken Soup for the Cat Lovers Soul at this moment.

Oh, I do like Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul too. It's a decent food. Both Nutro and Chicken Soup are quite a bit better for our cats than Purina Cat Chow.

The other thing I want to mention to the OP, is that make sure you're including wet food as part of their diet...this can often prevent future urinary troubles. My motto is this: Dry food - go premium. Wet food - can squeak by with a cheaper brand, as long as real meat is still included in the first 5 ingredients. My suggestion would be to buy Nutro Natural dry food, supplement with some Nutro wet 2-3 times a week, and also, don't shy away from Meow Mix POUCHES. Meow Mix dry is awful, but the pouches contain a lot of real meat listed as the #1 source of protein. They are highly palatable to cats, and are surprisingly healthy. The other option, is to look at a a couple of the flavors from Fancy Feast...they're not too bad in terms of ingredients, if you can believe it.

Thank you all! I am picking up the Nutro Natural today. Is 1/3 a cup food in the morning and 1/3 a cup of food at night correct in feeding them?

they are both around 8-9 lbs and almost full grown.
