What are you feeding him? How do you know he's not eating? I had RB's - but they always ate.

Has your cat been seen recently by a vet to rule out any medical problems?

Yes we just brought him to the vet. We are assuming - becasue I fill his dish when I go to work and he doesnt eat any of it. Yesterday when I was home he ate the whole dish before 4 in the afternoon???

He is 1 week new to us... So maybe I am being over paranoid

Oh yeah and the breeder fed him Iams Kitten formula, I am mixing it with wellness super5mix kitten formula.

Maybe he just likes to eat at certain times of the day..I wouldn't worry unless hes is NOT eating at all..

I've had more than one cat that prefers someone be in the room when they eat. I don't think any have ever taken it to the point of going hungry, but it's not uncommon for cats to like company when dining.

Maybe try a different flavor of the Wellness, or a different brand altogether - cats love variety and RB's (of which I have a wonderful, if skittish, one) are like any other cat in that way.

My girl usually won't eat unless I play with her first. She eats her meals when I am at home before and after work.

If I go away for a week or so, she eats the meals when the neighbours play with her.

I would not worry about your cat as long as he eats when you are home. He won't starve while you are at work.

I have had young cats who want their 'mom' there when they eat - after all, it is what they are used to! As long as she is eating the right amount each day and is healthy otherwise, I wouldn't worry. She will probably grow out of it.

I had a cat exactly like that. She loved us so much she would not be in a room alone to eat. It got to where I had to put little dishes everywhere (bedroom, living room) so she'd eat.

You've only had the kitten for a week - be patient. RB's are quiet/shy cats and sometimes it takes longer then a week to adjust to things. Now if he's not eating right after a month, then you might be concerned.

I also have a RB mix cat-she likes company while she eats, she also takes her time. I've had her for just over a year and it took her about 6 months to really settle in. Welcome to TCS , we really love pictures around here. Hint, Hint!
