My husband wants to put down salt to help melt the ice that is frozen solid on our front porch. I am concerned about the salt being tracked in and harming my kitties. Will it hurt them if they should pick any up on there paws and then lick them while grooming?

They have special salt that doesn't harm animals. If you can't buy it now, just don't let the kitties near the salt. Are they outside or inside?

My kitties are strictly inside kitties so my only concern is salt thet might get tracked in (especially when I am not home because my kids won't be so quick to clean it up)
They think I worry too much about what could happen to the cats. They are my babies though and I don't want tham to be hurt or sick.

My mom had me pick up pet-safe ice melter at petco for her.... she uses it on the deck out back (because of the dog) and on the porch out front... in both cases, if it gets tracked inside, it's ok... I think it was about $12 for the container.... my parents still use regular salt for the driveway and such, where the animals wouldn't be and it wouldnt get tracked in
Is there chemicals in it? Or just plain salt?
