hi i'm only new but was after some info about my kitten

Where i work there are alot of feral cats, I'm into assisting a Rescue Org in Australia mainly with horse fostering but little Phantom was desserted by his mother at approx 4 days of age when some pallets were moved. there was only 1 other kitten and she took that one but left this little one behind. Of course she did move him from the top of the pallet approx 1.6 mtrs off the ground to the ground.

Ok so i take him straight to a vet, i'm armed with bottle formula new bed etc and instructions, for the first 2 weeks he is doing well, gaining weight etc and then i come across someone that has a nursing mother and says i can put little phantom with her as well. Yeah!
the vets had said this would be the best thing to do

after 4 weeks the 'carer' rings to ask if they can keep him NO sorry his mine (mind you i visit him every week take pics etc) so i say i will want him back next week (6 weeks old) on the due date after reluctance i get my baby back and yesterday he had his first vaccination and received his microchip.

However, his little legs are bowed, they are bandy legged when he walks.

Whilst he is happy healthy and eating drinking pooping very well this can't be good?

Just wondering if there is anything i can give him to help straighten his legs. I forgot to ask the vet yesterday with the horror of seeing the gigantic microchip needle and he is only the size of a 4 week old kitten
probably due to his mother being under nourished and no i have no idea where she is now either.

I would really suggest your little one be seen by the vet....the vet can look at the kitten's hind legs and let you know whether there is anything you can do.

I would think (hope) the vet would have examined the kitten before he administered the vac and microchip. Did he/she express any concerns? Is the kitten at a healthy weight?

Rickets (vitamin D deficiency) are extremely rare in cats...so I would be very surprised if your kitten had that problem. However, I am sure it is possible, as is many other issues.

OTOH, the kitten is around 6 weeks? They can be pretty wobbly still and the legs may appear bowed, but be perfectly normal.

I think I would call the vet back and ask his/her opinion of your kittens health and bring the kitten back in if there are any concerns.

Good luck and please keep us updated.

Yes the vet did check him out and he actually commented to me that he is bias towards cats lol as a vet...... but didn't say anything about his legs other then he was very very small for a 7 week old but he was healthy.

Maybe i'm just being a worrywart. I went through an extortion and ramson attempt to get him back...... sounds silly i know but they demanded $150 for letting their cat nurse him and having bought solid food for him for 1 week (which i was going to give them thank you payment anyway)

However i will take him back just to make me happy. He has been on the best food and kitten suppliment milk money can buy and what has been recommended by the vet

thanks for you responses i do appreciate it
