My new kitten is a face hugger!

Yes! Like out of the Aliens movies.

At night, during his "resting period", he likes to cuddle with me. However, he perfers to do this with my nose and mouth completely covered by his furry belly. I can't breathe like that (yes, of course I tried, and yes, I do know what that sounds like).

Any ideas what this is about?

My current theory is that he doesn't want me breathing on his ears, but he doesn't have to sleep under my chin or on my face if he doesn't want to.

I don't mind, exactly, but I do feel bad because when I move (to breathe) he gets disturbed, and, of course, only tried repeatedly to resettle in another airflow removing fashion. This has been happening for several nights in a row now.

BF says that he also sleeps on his face, but doesn't block his airways.

I think he likes the warmth of your breath on his tummy.

As for how to stop him, the only thing I can suggest is just keep redirecting him. When you find him laying on your face, gently move him to another spot near you. Your hubby has to do the same thing so that it's consistent.

That's an interesting point. He does love having his belly rubbed. Maybe if I stroke him on his tummy til he falls asleep that will sort the problem.

I'll see what I can do about the pics, but I can't make promises.

That's what I think, too. Your warm breath is a very "mom" thing for the baby.

I think you just have a weird kitty on your hands..(or should I say face?)

You just have to keep moving your kitten off your face - it's one thing to put up with a bit of discomfort to keep kitty happy, but we all need to breathe!

lol eazy kept trying to do that, but just kept putting him to the side, now he sleeps right next to my ear.(i guess i dont need a bed room fan anymore,lol he purrs soo loud)

he's seeking revenge on his 'captors' by trying to smoother you in your sleep to make up for making him use the bathroom in a pan instead of the soft carpet, and making him eat kitty food when you dine on choice meat That's my theory. He's slowly trying to take over the world one step at a time (hehe, that or he just likes your face)

Turns out that was exactly what it was! If I position his belly and my nose just right (so that I can breath and he can get warm air), he falls asleep almost immediately. It's so cute!

Awww! Glad you found a compromise, hehe It would have been a bit difficult to have him continue laying on your face as he got bigger and older and heavier

He is. I've never slept with a kitten before. It really is an experience!
