Just a little bit about me. I'm Beth and my husband and I adore our 4 year old tuxedo male, Xenophon, or Xen for short. He's been having some problems which I've posted on the health board.

I have always been dedicated to helping cats. My favorite thing in the whole world was volunteering at the local humane society and helping match cat personalities with families. (I recently moved and have been unable to find a good place here.) My kitty soulmate was Millie who was like my sister. From the time I was 2 to 18 she was my constant companion.

Thanks for listening. I hope to learn a lot here and hopefully meet some fabulous people.

Hi Beth!!
Welcome to TCS! I haven't read about Xen on the health board yet, but I hope he's okay.

May I ask what state you moved to on the east coast? If by chance you are near me I know a great place to volunteer.

Hi and welcome, Bethany. I read your other post, but unfortunately I have no advice to offer. We do all hope you'll keep us updated on the little guy!

I moved to Philadelphia. There are a few places around here but I don't have a car so some of the smaller, no-kill shelters are in the suburbs. Thanks for the well wishes for the baby!

Here is a picture of my Xenophon. He is just like a dog. My husband, who swore he would never love a cat, is now best buds.Xen is a big cat, not fat but tall and really strong. We will never have a problem with bugs or rodents with him in the house (other than Xen's brother guinea pig Mr. Peanut...). He's coming home from the vet today. Good vibes and crossing of paws would be most appreciated. I hope he's around for a long time so I can share more of his antics with you all. Lots of love!

It looks like little Xen is doing well ::knocks on wood:: he is drinking water again after a little talk from mom about why he had to drinking it (re: very constipated with megacolon) and he's taken all of his meds, eaten more food and had a good poop. I hope we can manage this with meds for a while. I'll post some extended pictures of him looking dapper and adorable this weekend on the pics forum. Thanks for all of the welcomes and well wishes.

Welcome Xenophon, Beth, and husband!

Glad you've made it here to TheCatSite and hope your little guy's problems can be helped through the information you may find on the health forum!
I haven't been there or read your post, but of course he is in my best thoughts and prayers...it's no fun having a beloved feline family member in distress, is it? We've sure had our share over the years, and empathize. There are 9 felines here, the eldest going on 17 and the youngest, just 2 -- and I am their devoted servant, who have loved, lived with, rescued, and advoCATed for cats all my life. All of The Nine are rescues.
I know what you mean when you say Millie was like your sister -- my "big brother" Peedie was already in the house when I was born, and we were "like that" for all his life, too. He also passed at 18, a beautiful Maine Coon tabby man who was sweet, gentle, and loyal ever.

Look forward to seeing you here and best to you and Xenophon

Try calling Knightswood Animal Hospital. They may know a few places in the area. Welcome to the board and my city! I don't have a car either since I don't drive. LoL
