He looks like a lovely Grey Domestic Shorthair or a russian blue mix
but without papers there's no way to tell! Your kitty sure is gorgeous though!

British Shorthair is a particular pedigree breed of cat (as is Siamese, Burmese, Russian Blue etc). Domestic shorthair just means any shorthaired mixed breed cat. And yes, domestic shorthair means the same in Britain as it does in the US - a shorthaired cat of mixed/unknown parentage with no pedigree or papers

I think in the 2nd photo I detect a hint of the famous 'Russian Blue smile', so I suspect that he has some of those genes in his background somewhere
He's certainly very lovely!

His name is Artoo. I got him from the humane society. Every cat's papers there said either domestic long hair, or domestic short hair. I figured he is probably, in fact, a run of the mill domestic short haired, but he has very slanted almond shaped eyes, and a longer than average head, so I thought there may be some specific breed in him that someone might be able to pick out. No one wanted the poor bugger, but I cant imagine why. He spent 1.5 months in a cage. I think he was also abused before he got there. I lifted my hand over him to open the curtains for him and he cringed like I was going to hit him. He also has his whiskers cut off on one side of his face. It breaks my heart to think he may have suffered, but he will be forever happy and loved now.

ALso, do you think there's something wrong with his eyes? I'm not what it's called, but the pink/grey part on the inside corner of his eyes will often cover a third of his eye, especially when he's just waking up. You can see it in the first and last picture.

No, I don't think anything is wrong if the 3rd eyelid shows when he is jus waking up - that is quite normal.

I agree he's probably a DSH. Congratulations on your new addition! Artoo is a cutie.

That sounds fine, Radar's 3rd eyelid shows a little when he is just waking up and yawning, or if he sleepily has his eyes half closed. If it is partially closed at other times it can be a sign of dehydration or illness.

That makes me so sad. He sounds like a divine kitty, and I have no doubts but that he will thrive under your care.

Happy Fuuurrrrever Home, Artoo!
