Hello all.

We have a rather aggressive local cat who has decided it can wander into our house through the catflap and terrorise my two kittens when it sees fit!

As a result I want to fit one of those cat flaps which electronically sense your cat and only allow access to those whose home it is.

One I've been looking at is this:

http://www.petporte.com/products2.htm

which apparently senses the microchip of your cat and allows access on that basis. Both mine are chipped already.

My question is, has anyone had any experience of this product? How well does it work, and how reliable is it? It's about £100 and I don't want to spend the money if its not going to work!

Any info would be appreciated!

Thanks

Drew

WoW!
That is such a great idea. My first thought when reading your post was the problem with sensor doors is the need for a collar that won't breakaway. Then I saw that it reads the microchip so the cat could still get in if they lost their collar.

I, of course, don't have any experience with this door, but if they come up with one to read chips here in the States I think I'd be getting one.

I hope it is a good working product. If you do get one I hope you will post back about how well it works.

My sis has one of the "collar only" ones, and it worked great, except that 2 of her cats figured out how to slip off the collar. If they come up with one that reads the microchips, that would be great.
Any chance that the TNR group in your area could trap and neuter the aggressive male? the whole neighborhood would benefit
