Cats and Christmas Cards -- how to take pic

I want my kids to hold my kitty for our card. Only problem is kitty looks possessed (glowing eyes) in every picture and downright scary. Any tips for taking this picture with my Kodak digital camera?

Have as much natural light as possible, so that you dont have to use the flash. Good Luck!
