I just got a kitten and it smelled very bad (like the farm I got it from) and I gave it a bath when I got home. I used dawn dish soap and it still smells and while I was drying it off I noticed little brownish clear specks on its coat. At first I thought it was shavings of some sort, but they did not come off easily and I washed her again and they still didn't come off. Does anyone know what they are??? and what I should do?????????

It sounds like flea dirt. How to find out if it is, is take a small container of warm water and set it aside, take kitty (if dry) and place kitty on a piece of paper, brush the coat, The flea dirt will fall off on the paper, then scoop the stuff that fell off and put it in the water. If the water turns red, it is flea dirt. If it doesn't then I don't know what you are facing. But I would suggest you take kitty into the vet if you haven't already. The vet will be able to give her something for the fleas or determine what the other gunk you are seeing is, plus test her for diseases. Good luck!
