Where are your grandparents from?

Since we have such a diverse group here at TCS, I thought it would be interesting to know where our grandparents were from.

My mother's side:
Grandma - Rockglen, Saskatchewan, Canada
Grandpa - Vaga, Norway

My father's side:
Grandma - Edam, Saskatchewan, Canada
Grandpa - Marlborough, Wiltshire, England

Nebraska, Nebraska, Nebraska and Nebraska.

Mom's side from Staplehurst. Dad's side from the Battle Creek/Norfolk area.

Grandparents - both sides - Canada

Great-great-grandparents - both sides - Canada
Great-great-great grandparents - both sides - Canada (Maternal g-g-g grandmother was the daughter of the chief of the MicMac Indians in the Maritime provinces which makes her an Indian princess (so I guess you could say I have "royal" blood).

My maternal grandparents are both from South Dakota. Pierre, I believe. Both of them were I THINK born in the US, although both are first generation American. My grandfather's older siblings were born somewhere in Germany, but I'm pretty sure he was born in SD. My grandma's family is from some little town in Denmark.

My paternal grandfather wound up in an orphanage in Hammond, Indiana. Who knows where he's actually from, although his last name (which is consequently my last name) is either French, Spanish or Italian in origin. My paternal grandmother is from Reggio, Calabria, Italy.

Well, I'm young so my grandparents were all American citizens, except for my Mom's mom...she was from Scotland.

My great grandparents on my Dad's side were all from Italy except for one from Austria, and my great grandparents on my Mom's side were from Scotland and England.

My grandparents, both sets, were born in Salem, MA.

My Dad's father's parents were born in Ireland, not sure where as that information has become lost and there is no one left alive to ask.

My Dad's mother's parents were born in Quebec, as were my mother's grandparents, both paternal and maternal.

Technically, I'm 75% French-Canadian and 25% Irish, but I have the Irish looks.

On my mother's side:

both from England. ggggggfather side arrived in 1720 ... virginia.
gggggggggm from england also a little later. Women are harder to trace.


on my father's side:
grandpa: russian ( minsk)
grandmother : russian ( minsk)

they didn't know each other in minsk but met as young people on the lower east side of NYC

maternal grandmother, Massachusetts, but her parents were from Poland.

Dad's mother's parents-Boston area and Prince Edward Island, Canada
Dad's father's parents-Boston area and Vermont

My grandmother on my father's side is Polish
My grandfather on my father's side is Russian

My grandmother on my mother's side is Danish/Irish
My grandfather on my mother's side is Irish/ Cherokee Indian

Paternal; Italy-Italy
Maternal; France}Uruguay-Italy}Argentina

Dad's Dad: Iowa
Dad's Mom: Pennsylvania (raised in an Amish community)

Mom's Dad: Ontario, Canada
Mom's Mom: Michigan

All four: England -- Dad's from Kent, Mum's from Sussex. Mum was born in Brighton and the family came to Canada when she was about 7; I'm not sure when Dad's parents emigrated, but I think they hadn't been here all that long, when he was born in Saskatoon, probably the same year Mum's family arrived.

My grandparents are all from Paraguay!

I am a huge mix of nationalities.
Which is okay by me...I have olive skin tone, thick brown hair, curvey hip, small feet, a round face and blue eyes which sets me apart from everyone in my family. Ha I'm unique! which is a special word for the odd-ball in the family lol!

Maternal Grandmother: Born in Saskatchewan, moved to Ontario
Grandfather: Born in Kars, Ontario
Originally the family came from Ireland and we have an extensive geneaology done.

Paternal Grandmother: Born near Warsaw Poland, moved to Canada in the early part of the century
Grandfather: Born somewhere in Germany, moved with her.
They also settled in Saskatchewan.

Paternal grandparents & greats :Stockholm, Sweden
Maternal grandparents: Northwestern New Jersey /greats: England & Ireland

Maternal Grandparents - Finland

Paternal Grandmother - Ireland
Paternal Grandfather - Scotland

I grew up with my mother and grandmother speaking Finnish and my father would confuse them by speaking Gaelic.
