Hello! My cat Poog has a strange almost blister looking thing on the very end of his ear. There are no scratches or anything indicating a bite, it just looks like it's filled with fluid and is slightly warmer than his skin to the touch. We've been debating taking him to the vet but other than the way it makes his ear look a little odd it doesn't seem to bother him at all. There are no other symptoms he's acting as though it's not even there, we've been watching him carefully. It's been 2 days now and hasn't changed for better or worse, any suggestions?

I've been putting Neosporin on it a few times a day just in case there is a scratch that I've missed. I hate to drag him to the vet over something that seems so small, especially since it's completely traumatizing for him.

I would say that it is a Hematoma, it's a fluid filled sac usually from scratching, and what will happen it will cause the skin on the ear to seperate and get bigger, I would suggest a visit to your vet they can drain it and then sew in down flat to keep it from filling up again most of the time if you don't have that done it will disfigure the ear, and most of the time they do require treatment. It's not really a small thing I have had cats that have had it and also one of by bassett hounds had several of them .. Hope this helps

Thanks for the info and advice, I'll keep an eye on him and if he's not better tomorrow morning he'll be going to the vet!

When I was younger I had cat that sounds like it had the same thing but his ear ended up filling up like a balloon. They ended up having to do surgery to drain it. His poor ear was never the same after that. I miss that cat he lived to be 23 years old.

I just now found one of those blisters on my cat's ear. It does not seem to bother her, she is eating good and is just as playful as ever. Do these things ever resolve themselves. I really can't afford a vet bill right now.
