Vibes, Please!

I found out on Friday that my 78-year-old grandfather will be having surgery on December 18th to correct a blockage in his carotid artery. He only found out about the blockage because he's diabetic and therefore prone to them, so his doctors regularly check for that sort of thing; he hasn't been feeling poorly and I've been told that this kind of surgery isn't a big deal. However, the person who told me this was my father (my grandfather's son), and he's been known to downplay extremely serious situations so that we don't worry about them -- which causes me to worry even more ...

My family is not known for its longevity. It's possible that my grandfather has lived the longest out of anyone on that side of the family, and he seems very frail to me although he's in pretty good shape. I am terrified about this upcoming surgery, all the more so because he lives two hours away from where I live and I can't go visit him, and what kind of schedules what sounds like risky surgery the week before Christmas?!?

I lost my nana (my grandfather's wife) in July 2005, and J's grandmother passed away last June. My grandad and my maternal grandmother are all the grandparents we have left. I just can't handle this. I want my grandad to be there for Christmas; I want him to be there for my wedding in 2008. Could you spare some TCS vibes for me that he comes out of this all right?

It's best for him to get it done now! Then he can be healed up and enjoy his Christmas not worrying about it! You'll be in our thoughts!

Your Grandfather and your whole family are in my thoughts and prayers. Christmas is a terrible time of year to be facing something like that! However, it's probably best done sooner than later! I hope everything turns out well and that you all have a wonderful, healthy Christmas.
