I have a female cat and for the last few weeks she has been licking and pulling at her hair around her bum and now has bald patches. I took her to the vets last week and said she was consitpated and she took her to help her out. she has not got fleas as i frontline her regulary and the vet did not mention that it could be to do with them? Also there could be a chance she is pregnant the vet said it was hard to tell with her being consitpated early stages if she is? please let me know if anyone has experienced anything like this with there cat before.thanks

Hi and welcome to TCS........well Dino had this problem (a few years back now) it lasted for about 3 days, it all turned out to be those sticky bud type things from plants............he had been in the long grass, it was summer, and got loads stuck to him
I think when he bobbed down to wee-wee, some got stuck then
it drove him mad, well I suppose it would

So not sure about your kitty, is she still doing it ? can you see any rashes - all strange really if the vet didnt see anything or have a definate answer for you
Dino has also had constipation problems, but the vet did an x-ray to confirm his thoughts, and of course you could see his bowel was all blocked up.

I dont have any experience with pregnant cats as my other 2 were spayed, so I cannot advise if it might be something to do with that

Well I do hope you get some answers, maybe a trip back to the vets for an x-ray may solve both questions about pregnancy and constipation !

Do keep us posted ........oh and enjoy the forums, do stick around its great here

Thanks for your reply yes she is still biting her fur out . She is a house cat so no contact with any plant .Im am going to give her a week to see if she is pregnant otherwise i will take her back. Like humans when pregnant we get consitpated so hopefully that is whats causing it?but any ideas on this would put my mind at rest. Thanks.
