Only in Memphis can you go grocery shopping and be serenaded by your very own Elvis. Oh, and Elvis is excellent at packing groceries too
/ Tonight at the store I cashier for, we had an Elvis day to promote the new Elvis themed coffees and hot chocolates (which are yummy by the way!
we had free samples everywhere). So all of the employees wore Elvis shirts and jeans, there was Elvis music in the background, Elvis kerokie (for the shoppers) and oh yeah....Elvis even packed their groceries
. So yeah, I love Elvis very much....but after listening to 8 hours of straight elvis music, i'm a little neurotic
/ I do have quite a funny story for ya'll though. Tonight I had a lady from out of town (not sure where she was from) come through my line tonight- and this was obviously her first shopping experience in memphis- she had this bizarre sheepish look on her face and was completly weirded out- she asked me "umm...do they do this, you know- the whole elvis thing, in every store in Memphis like this?" She wispered this as "Elvis" was packing her groceries for her
To which I replied "Oh yea! We LOVE Elvis"
apparently she didn't catch onto my sarcasm
That poor woman left my line thinking all Memphians were crazy Elvis fans.
It was too funny!

haha, and ya'll thought he was dead..silly people
(hehe, j/k..."elvis" is really Peter the meat manager
that's soo wrong!)

I sure did...ahh the joys of being a Memphis Belle
It was pretty funny though- everyone was in a good mood (until about 4 hours of non-stop elvis music...by the end of my 8 hr shift i was ready to strangle someone
)

oh, and good news! I'm geting promoted to the floral dpt in our store
Which is what I really wanted to do anyways when I took the job, there were just no spots. I still haven't heard back from the lady at the other flower shop (I will be calling her back yet again on monday to see if i can find anything out
i tried calling several times this week- if i get the job at that store- i'm definitely leaving, but for now, i'm at least excited about the promotion and getting to work in the floral section
)

Omg- what was AWEFUL was when they let the customers sing keraoke (how the devil do you spell that word!) with "Elvis" - I thought I was gonna loose my hearing - haha, apparently Elvis doesn't have quite the chops he used to ....and the customers- oh goodness- there's no words that could possible describe their totrureous singing!
It was pitiful
But it was kinda funny- it's definitely something we could only get away with in Memphis

Well atleast your evening wasn't dull. Try going to a tavern with your mom and her singing karokee when she can't sing and then having her get the whole barn to look at you every time she goes up there. Which she does and then says theres my daughter and the more beer the louder she gets about it. Or like the last time I visited her she got everyone to sing happy birthday to me.
