Come One, Come All to SNAP Free Cat Day!
Houston, Texas
All year long the Houston mobile clinic offers free services for the cats (and dogs) of those on public assistance. There are many who do not qualify for public assistance but still need help as well. If you are among those who find your paycheck stretched so far that you cannot afford to spay or neuter your cat, your day has come. On Tuesday, December 5, 2006, the Houston mobile clinic will hold a free spay/neuter day for households that do not qualify for government assistance.
The mobile clinic will be stationed at the Harris County Veterinary Public Health facility at 612 Canino for this event. Cats will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Space is limited, so arrive as early as possible. (It is not unusual for people to begin arriving as early as 5 a.m. or even earlier.) The first person to arrive should start a list to document the order of subsequent arrivals. The SNAP advance team will arrive at 7:30 a.m. Bring your cat in a carrier or a pillow case. Do NOT give your adult cat (6 months or older) food or water after 10 p.m. the night before. Kittens (under 6 months) may be given half their usual amount of food and water the morning they come. You will be assigned a time to pick up your cat, and all cats will go home the same day.
This event is being made possible with the kind assistance of Harris County Veterinary Public Health and with the support of the William and Evelyn Griffin Foundation and the Robert and Pearl Knox Foundation.
