I was wondering around the store and I saw this product. Has anybody used it or asked their vet about it? Does it work? Is it safe? I'll ask my vet about it the next time I speak to her, but I thought I'd see if anyone here has any experience with this product.

They have a powder, a spray, and a squeeze-on type. It's made of about 3-5% essential oils and 95-7% other stuff, which is listed on the package. I've forgotten what they other stuff is, although I don't recall seeing any strange (chemical-like) ingredients on the squeeze-on packet. They come 3-in-a-pack for $10 or so at Walmart. I'd love to have a cheap alternative to Frontline Plus.

I have one, indoor only, female cat. =)

I would not buy any over-the-counter flea preventative since some of them can kill your cat. It's cheaper in the long run to get flea treatment from your vet.

Thanks for the warning
. I am aware that most of the over-the-counter treatments are not safe. I don't use any over-the-counter medicine/etc products on my cat. I thought I would ask about this product, however, because I don't remember the ingredients containing any strange chemicals.

I thought I would see if anyone else had gotten the okay to use the product from their vet and find out how it was working for them. I would, of course, confer with my vet before attempting to use anything over-the-counter, especially since I know that some EOs are believed to be toxic to cats.

I know that tea tree oil is sometimes used as an ingredient in 'natural' flea remedies and are safe for some animals - however it is toxic to cats. Cats have a different metabolism and a much smaller liver than dogs, and many products and essential oils that are safe for dogs could be very toxic to a cat - so I wouldn't use any product that wasn't specially formulated for cats and recommended by a vet, just in case.

i wondered about that stuff when i saw it too. i ended up staying with frontline just to be safe. i have 3 indoor only cats, no dogs, so i use the off label "3 months" for frontline. i've been told, that it's actually good for 2-3 months. i use regular frontline, not frontline plus. i usually only treat the guys 2x a year, but the last couple years winters have been really warm & spring has been early, so i've had to do 3 treatments. usually spring, midsummer (if it's a bad year) and end of summer/early fall. all about 2-3 months apart. this has worked out really well for us for several years.
