Who here has weird parents?

So lets put it this way, i know that if my child decided to live in another country i will be sad, but i know they have to make their own life.

My mum just sent me two letters, telling me how much "freedom" i will have in Rome, and that i will find a job ect, and that i should sell all my furniture although i just bought it all...

But reality is that i am really happy living on my own and i am having such mega fun and i just dont know how to tell her?

How would you approach such a delicate subject?

As a parent, I can tell you that she said what she did because she loves you and misses you, not because she is weird. She might still be weird, but her wanting you near her is what we moms do.

It's too bad she's putting negative pressure on you. I guess you have to keep telling her that this is where you're living now, that you love your job, and you're happy where you are. She'll probably continue to pressure you for awhile, but hopefully she'll get the point.

On the upside, "YAY" that you're so happy!
You deserve it!

Just tell her that you have settled in Germany and that is where you want to be at this point in your life. But should things change she will be the fisr to know!

Fran, i am really happy that you are having a great time on your own and that your job is making you happy!!

She misses you, and is probably stressed at the thought of celebrating the holidays without you. Point out to her that Rome and Frankfurt are actually fairly close (much closer than Australia!), and that you're only a fax/email away. I would imagine that she's also going through some adjustment problems in a new city, so be sympathetic.
