Here I am in Australia feeling very relaxed and happy. We just got back from Heron Island on the Great Barrier Reef where we spent 5 days.
The weather was gorgeous and warm, the ocean was like bath water, the water was as clear as clear can be, and the marine life was plentiful. We saw so many rays, sharks, turtles (and watched them laying eggs on the beach), and the most colourful beautiful fish. The corals were stunning as were the other marine life - clams, crabs etc.
We've had the best time, with the highlight being while snorkelling, and seeing a big eagle ray leap out of the water right in front of us, and flop back into the water. We'd seen these flashes out of the corner out of eye a couple of times, and knew it was the eagle rays, but to have one do it right in front of our eyes was breathtaking. Of and the group of batfish bigger than a dinner plate was also impressive, as was the young green turtles swimming underneath us.
We've got heaps of photos, including underwater photos but probably won't get them uploaded until we get back to the US (in another week).
