...make a very important decision?
This is even more crucial that than decision you helped with a few weeks ago regarding whether or not to eat the leftover brownie. Thanks, by the way!

I'm trying to decide whether or not to clean my apartment tonight, the reason being that my 6-year-old niece is coming to spend the night tomorrow. Somehow, I don't think she'll notice, but it's kind of a matter of principle. I always clean before company comes.

The apartment's sort of in between clean and dirty right now. Let's just say it's not filthy by any means, but I probably wouldn't want anyone I don't know coming in and seeing what it looks like. I mostly need to dust and vacum.

If I don't get to it tonight, I definitely will over the weekend. So, what do you think? Should I clean in Kaleigh's honor or not?

Definately. Even if she's six, she's company.

Edited to add Peter and Claire look really sweet in their little hats, but Gracie and Katie look like they're planning revenge.

She is six and will probably leave the place looking like a hurrican went through it so I say save your energy for playtime with her

~looks around at her own messy apartment that she should clean~

I was afraid someone would point that out.
I'm most likely going to have to vacum after she leaves anyway. Last time she came we had a slumber party in the living room and I found popcorn everywhere under her sleeping bag!

So you noticed the sig, huh. Thanks for the compliment on Pete and Claire. Katie's not the vengeful type (she doesn't take a good picture), but Gracie most definitely is, so I'm on guard!

BTW, I have started to dust and am now procrastinating!

Do what I do and play 1950s housewife! (I have wedges I sometimes drag out for extra fun.) Lookingglass sometimes wears a tiara, that helps too.

Re the sig, they all look cute... just not in a Christmas spirit sense!

Kids like to crawl around on the floor and stick their fingers in their mouths, so yes, I'd suggest cleaning the apartment, especially the floors and bathroom.

Eh, if you get around to it, do it - if not, she's 6, she'll leave the place a mess anyways!
Plus, I'm sure she'll have fun writing her name in your dust

I'd maybe just dust and vacuum the areas that she will be in. So if there is a bedroom she won't see, then maybe save that for the weekend, etc?

That's exactly the kind of thing Kaleigh would do!

Bust out your tiara, some high heels, and a cute outfit and go do it! The more fun you make it the faster it will be done!

I say clean it, but don't over do it as she will likely mess up the place again.

Just wanted to say thanks for helping me get through this difficult decison process!

I sort of compromised on the cleaning. Got all the dusting done and did a quick vacum job, since I'll have to do again after Kaleigh leaves anyway.

I'm just going to clean up the kitchen a little, then I'm done. I'm not worried about the bathroom, because I just went over it a couple of days ago. Besides, Friday's are the one night during the week that Kaleigh is excused from taking a bath, so she won't be spending that much time in there anyway!

I had to to!
I could just see Kaleigh going home and telling my SIL about writing her name in the dust. That would be embarassing!

I haven't introduced her to the joys of Taco Bell yet, but the chocolate would definitely work. This is the same kid, who at the age of two, saw a jar of chocolate sauce sitting on the table and announced, "I want to drink that."
That's my girl!
