I think the time has come to adopt a second cat and I'm stressing over the big decision, because it may be years before my boyfriend agrees to a third!
My current cat is a 3 year old Japanese bobtail. She's playful (but less so than when she was younger). Loves to be around people, wrestle with hands, and play hide and seek games, likes to be picked up, but is NOT a lap cat.
I'm looking at kittens at the shelter because I hear it's easier to introduce a kitten, rather than an adult cat, to a resident cat.
I have my eye on a mellow Norweigan Forest 3 month old female kitten. She seems a little stressed in the shelter with all the other kittens, and is shy, but has spent some time on my lap which I like because I'd love my next cat to be a lap cat. And I think if she left the shelter and was in a home she'd come out of her shell more and be a great cat.
I think she might be a good choice, since she's a kitten, but very laid-back for a kitten. If I adopted a crazy, high-energy playful type kitten it just might be too much for our little apt! My bf worries what noise two cats could make at night but I think that'd be less of a problem with a generally quiet cat.
Such a hard decision!
I'm going back tomorrow to spend more time with her.
Any thoughts?
