I was eating a salad this morning in bed, Stewie (who eats anything) started munching away on lettuce...onions (yes onions) and any other salad trimmings.
this is how it played out...

Ok mom...let me just take a little of this....

And move some of that over here...

and now my feast may take place! (yes that a ring of onion he was eating)

I'm tellin you guys...he LOVES salad! he has to have a few pieces and put them in a little circle around him..you try and take any away he growls and smacks at your hand. What a booger!

Here is the main page to the toxic substances for cats.

http://www.peteducation.com/category...cls=1&cat=1418

Here is a link that just lists the substances in a table. It's near the bottom.

He looks even more scrumptious than the salad. So glad he got to enjoy your salad with you!

I just realized I didn't comment on the picture.

Stewie is a doll and it's cute that he likes to dig into your salad and arrange it before he eats it, hehe

As for the onion, he's probably fine with the little that he consumed.

It's usually more a cumulative effect with the onions, so as long as you don't let him have more, there's probably no ill effects.

Zissou and Stewie ought to go to the salad bar together. You should see her beg while I make salad, and while I eat it, while I take the dish to the kitchen. Girl loves lettuce too.

It's cute how Stewie has no regard for your comforter

Huh, maybe Stewie, Zissou and Eilcon's Gracie should all start a salad club for cats
Stewie is a super cute kitty, and I hope he's ok!

Just checking up on Stewie this AM.

When mine were 6 months old and went in with their spay/neuters, they came back with URI. I boiled some chicken with garlic and onions to make them feel better.
My vets office called to check on them. I said, "I made them chicken, garlic and onion soup", which they had already eaten. Thats how I found out it was toxic. They were ok, but I had only fed them on serving.
Everyone has to learn somehow.

Alright you guys, Stewie is doing ok
. he had a little runny stool. but other than that he's running around, playing, snoozing, eating and drinking. Thank heaven that he didnt have a terrible reaction to the onions.

Stewie would LOVE to have a Salad club...meet on sundays, have a mini salad and dicuss the going on of laundry day and what happens when you wonder into the basement or kick all your litter out of the box onto the floor...interesting things cats do like that
. Stewie will NOT share his salad but would be sneaky and try to steal other peoples salad, so... Zissou and Gracie might wanna sit as far away from Stewie as possible, trust me, he's a brat.

Thanks everyone for your support in not making me feel like a total bonehead lol.
