My 6 month old Kitten is totally klutzy! She runs into walls, falls off the sofa, jumps up on a shelf then falls behind it! No medical problems, she is not sick but is this normal?

This morning while i was holding my computer on my lap she raced towards me and proceeded to run right into the laptop smacking her head with a audible CRACK!

I am ready to buy her a crash helmet!

HELP!

I know for a fact its not her vision. She can see stuff from far away and close up. She can see a fly from across the room and pounce on it. I was thinking maybe her equalibrium is off? When I got her she was on antibiotics for some kind of respiritory infection.

Sounds like a normal crazy kitten to me!

She is just getting used to her balance and hasn't quite gotten it right yet!

My Portia still falls of the edges of things cause she never quite got her balance right!

For my cats running into walls wouldn't be what I would consider normal.

Have you asked your vet about it?

I am probably going to take her to the vet next week. I am afraid she is going to get hurt. My heart is in my throat everytime she is up on the second floor looking down the 2 story foyer. If she walked on the railing she would totally fall....she hasnt attempted it yet, but I am petrified!!!

I absolutely agree with Jane, sounds pretty normal unless I had a KLUTZY kitten too! Anyway, at seven months old, he has abandoned most of his klutziness.

LOL - if I look at Ferris the wrong way, he falls off the windowsill, and it is NOT a graceful fall. I do my best to stifle my laughter until he's out of the room. Poor furkids. Well, we aren't all born graceful.

Thats not really an option. I have two cats, and I would have to lock her in a room. Her klustyness (sp??) could last for months! She would hate me LOL!

She has not attempted the railing, so I am hoping she knows her limitations. She just jumped on my lap at the table and cracked her head on the table. I swear to god she is brain damaged! LOL

Thankfully nothing seems to hurt her!

sounds like a perfectly healthy kitty to me. The only way to gain a sense of balance is to practise, isnt it? :p

Till he learns..well...you would baby-proof your house aswell, so start kitten-proofing as much as you can

On the other hand, also see that he can learn from his mistakes, they need to bang their head against a wall, now and again

Sounds just like Radar. His sight is perfect but when he gets hyper he runs smack into things, leaps for shelves full of books and rams into them face first, and falls off things. The most frightening was when he leapt for the top of the living room door and slipped and was hanging off it by his front paws. He skidded into the side of the fish tank not 5 minutes ago.

I think the fact that they grow so fast means they find it difficult to compensate for their rapidly changing weight and size, and I am sure they will grow more graceful once their bodies stop growing so fast.
